Computer freezes when playing games

Thanks for looking at this.

My pc freezes after playing games for a few minutes (play everything from cod mw2 to the kids playing lego harry potter). Could this be related to a virus or software issue? I replaced my GPU from an older 4670 to a 260gtx and still have the same problem. The system completely freezes and requires a hard reboot every time. Crazy thing is that after the hard reboot it works fine for as long as you use it until the computer is placed in "sleep" mode again.

System specs are as follows.
AMD 720
700w Power supply
4gb ddr3 1333 memory
gtx460 GPU
windows 7 home premium 64

I've never overclocked or tweaked the system. I've already updated the video drivers so I know it's not that.

Try testing the RAM one module at a time using memtest86. Also, run an anti-virus check in 'Safe Mode'.

sounds like a PSU issue, works well until game loads then freezes happened to me few times
