How to use 2 graphic cards windows 7

Hello,
I just installed W7E (64bit) on my new Dell optiplex780. There is an integrated graphics adapter and an external GA. I use the external GA with HDMI. But I am not able to use the internal graphics adapter with my 2nd monitor - it stays black.

Is there a workaround for this???

Could we get your full system specs please?

Use CPU-Z for that.

Depending on how new your card is, you should be able to run two monitors off your discrete graphics adapter (the external one, as you put it).

Just got the Dell, so it's brand new.

After scrolling for over a minute i stopped reading that wall o text, if you want other people to even scrolled down far enough to post a reply i suggest shortening that up because i didnt even catch what GPU you have.

So what graphics card do you have in the system? Almost all cards can drive 2 monitors, and that is much easier than dealing with one from the card one from the chipset. If you really wanted to drive one from the motherboard you will likely need to go into bios and turn it on again, onboard graphics generally deactivate when a dedicated GPU is in the system.

Hello,

Sorry for the wall of text. A little foolish indeed...

As for my question, I gave up on trying to get a dual monitor system with 1 monitor connected to the onboard ga (graphics adapter) with analog connection and another to the external ga with hdmi connection. After exploring the Bios options of my Dell I found out that here I only can choose the default ga to use on system start.

I am now waiting for a 2nd dvi-hdmi cable to have my 2nd monitor connected to the external ga.
