New GFX card

Hello,
I have a reasonable pc setup and want to get a new gfx. My current specs are:
Q6600 - 3.0ghz
500gb hard drive
P5ne-sli
4gbs ram
GTX260 core 216

I was thinking of maybe a GTX560 or Radeon 6950. Would my setup be enough to let the new GFX show it's muscle.

While not cutting edge, this rig would do nicely with either GPU. What make/model of PSU are you using? You need to ensure you have sufficient power for either option.

Get an hd6950 and flash into a hd6970. It has TWO BIOSs so if the first flash corrupts one BIOS, you just flip a switch on the side, BAM! Same hd6950 as before. It would get you a really nice hd6970 for the price of a hd6950.

PSU is 550w - its a CWT Ice Cube - not great quality i know, but not the worst i believe. Obviously the Q6600 is oc'd slightly, and prob psu is close to max already! Maybe a new psu too!? Perhaps you can recommend something decent. I don't want overkill like a 1000w though. Trying to keep my carbon footpring low!! haha

Anything in the 500 - 600 watt range by Antec, Corsair, Silverstone or Enermax.

This is VERY true. If you were to dig through the forums, you would find many users who had inadequate PSUs and suffered the consequences. Another to add to the "good list" is Seasonic (now my chosen brand).

Indeed, Seasonic was doing it at the enthusiast level before anyone

OCZ is also good. It makes solid PSUs now. (didn't in the past though)
