Hi guys, I am hitting a wall here. I have a single monitor pushing 1920x1200 I am looking at purchasing dual 6970's for xfire. Is this a waste of money or will I see great performance gains? I am not going to drop in triple monitors at the moment as I am playing with the wife's budget constraints she has set for me. I have found endless information on 6970's with tri-monitor but none for a single.

Solution
I have two running on my one monitor. 150-300 FPS in games is glorious. Plus I can play Metro 2033 maxxed out even though that game is hard as frak

I haven't bought them yet. But I'm currently running a 4870 and definitely need a boost for Rift/BC2, I just had the cash to spring for two and wondered if it was the best way to go. I guess Ill save my cash then.

120hz monitor would kind of make it worth it, especially if you get glasses for 3D. But I'd say for a single monitor, maybe go with CF 6870 or 560Ti, even 470s. Unless you think you might go with 3 monitors down the road, then that extra VRAM (2gb) would be great.

The reason I was going to go with 6970cf was mainly for Rift. There is HUGE battles where you have multiple raid groups of 20 people on screen at once. Performance takes a hit, was thinking if I went CF on 6970's that would take care of the dip in those situations. Of course there are varying reports of good CF performance on Rift at this time.

That's going to use your processor a ton more than your videocard. In many games like that people often mistake their bottleneck as the videocard instead of their CPU or RAM
