Annoying lines in light sources

In most games I play there are lines coming from the light sources, and have not been able to identify what they are or whats causing it. It isnt game breaking but it gets really annoying sometimes.






They are a bit hard to see in the images, but they are clear as day ingame. It happens in metro 2033 and crysis aswell not just dead space 2.

It could be either my 5970 Black edition or my I7 930.

Heres some better picture from metro 2033, you can see the lines better. I have done everything, turned vsync on, raised aa tweaked with ccc nothings helping. So i think its the 5970, but it may not be. so please help

for the dead space 2 pics i dont blame you but i can definitely see them in the second pair of metro 2033 pics. Its just clearer in the screenshots but they are definitely there

Are they like straight lines that give a ripple effect?

yes exactly like a ripple effect. its like the lines are running along each shade of light, and when you move either close or away from them they move.

Yeah, i have no idea about that. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers?

Ok it seems that this happens to my brothers computer aswell. so can i just confirm that this happens to everybody so i know its normal.

Does your brother have a 5970 too?

I can't say i've ever seen that on Metro, but then again i may just not have noticed.

If it isn't breaking anything or causing your system to crash, and you're not getting any other screen artefacts like miscolouring or strange blobs/mis-rendered vectors then i'd say you're ok.

The only other suggestion i'd make is update to the latest catalyst drivers and install the latest application profiles for the 5970.

no he has a 9600 gt and it is exactly the same, so im guessing it happens to everyone, and i just happened to notice it.

Possibly yeah, can't say i've ever seen it but so long as the game is playing well enough then there's nothing to worry about.

can someone go to the beginning of dead space 2 where isaac is being questioned and see if you can see the lines like this-
