hey guys, currently I have e7500 build and was thinking of upgrading it. Normally i wouldn't but im just going to upgrade 3 components as everything else i bough last year is still relatively new.

I have:
Case
HDD
DVD/CD
GPU
PSU

NEED
CPU
RAM
MOBO

Budget: I would like it to be between 250-300 of that's doable.

I was first thinking about just grabbing the x6 but then i looked around and i hear that the i5-2400 is much better than the x6 and is only a few dollars extra, is this true? If someone can complie a list for both the x6 and i5 that would be great. I am in Canada so i can only shop and CDN sites such as ncix.ca or newegg.ca

Thanks, seems pretty good. How much of a difference is that cpu compared to an x6, I hear its better in games but will it convert videos relatively quickly compared to an e7500?

^though with the H61+2400 you're stuck with the stock frequency+turbo, as neither the Mobo or the chip OCs.

With SB, quicksync blazes thorough video encoding, but unless you have Lucid or Z68, its QC or discrete GPU. QC off, it should be on par with the X6.

IMO wait for BD/SB-E/... and squeeze whatever s left out of your E7500.

Ya I know about the stock speed thing, I tried to OC my e7500 today but it could only get to a stable 3.2 due to the lock on the vcore ( idk why its locked). I wont be buy this till the end of april so i might change my mind, Ill see if i can search local and see how low i can get parts for an x6 but i think the sandy one is good.

I might be able to sell my mobo+ram+e7500 and help pay for it.

I guess it will be most used for games and media with occasional conversion of mkv files but thats about it. I wonder how the sandy performs in games like FSX which are cpu intensive.
