Difference between two types of Core-i7 CPUs?

Hello everyone, I have GTX 560 Ti graphic card but have Core i3 CPU. I want to upgrade my CPU. I am little bit confuse that Intel Core i7 2600 Desktop Processor have integrated Graphics but Intel COre i7 950 does not have integrated graphic, my question is that which one should I purchase for gaming?
Will the Integrated Graphics of i7 2600 CPU give me extra boost to work with my graphic card?
Does the Integrated Graphics power up the graphics card?
Explain me thanks very much!

  1. What motherboard do you have? Is it socket 1155 or 1156?
  2. I have motherboard of LGA 1155
  3. Then you can only get an LGA 1155 CPU, like the i7-2600. You would want to disable the onboard GPU in the BIOS and uninstall any drivers for it, before installing the GTX 560 Ti.
  4. The 1st generation of Core i3/i5/i7 and all previous Intel CPUs did not have the graphics core built into the CPU. The graphics core was always part of chipset. The 2nd generation of the Core i3/i5/i7 CPUs known as Sandy Bridge has the graphics core built into the CPU. Sandy Bridge CPUs are socket 1155.

Sandy Bridge CPUs comes with the Intel HD 2000 or HD 3000 graphics core. The Intel HD 3000 is a little more powerful than the Radeon HD 5450 and is probably a little more than 2x the power of the Intel GMA 4500MHD. It only works by itself so you either use it or you don't. Your motherboard must have the H67 or Z68 chipset in order to use the graphics core.
  5. Mr. jaguarskx, i explain my problem in some detail below:
Suppose there are two specifications of gaming pc

    spec1: Core i7-2600 Board is P67 Chipset and 1600MHZ DDR3 RAM, GTX 560Ti 1GB etc.

    spec2: Core i7-950 Board is DX58SO Chipset and 1600MHZ DDR3 RAM, GTX 560Ti 1GB etc.

My simple question is that If i pick spec1 rather spec2, as i7-2600 have graphic core and i7-950 have not, does this spec1 is more faster gaming pc than spec2 or not?
    Explain me thanks!
  6. Spec 1 is faster but because the 2600 is better than the 950 not because of the onboard graphics which do not help when using the 560Ti. Also the i5 2500 is as good as the i7 2600 for gaming, and get the 2500K or 2600K if you want to over clock at all.
  7. I agree with Simon12, definately go with spec 1.
