3.5mm jack External Speakers do not work in my laptop

Hello,

My laptop (acer) When connected through 3.5mm jack to external speakers, is not producing sound. All the connections are correct. Earlier, this used to happen occasionally i.e. sound on and off. Now, it is permanently off. But, playback through laptop speakers is fine. Please help.

Does the Jack work with headphones? If so you have a speaker problem. if not reinstall the audio drivers
