Resolution vs. video card

Hello, I have a dual monitor setup extending my desktop to the second monitor. Both monitors are HP 2010i's but I am unable to set the same resolution on both of them. Is this because of the video cards being different? On one monitor I have many choices or resolution but on the other I only have three.

Are you running them off of two separate video cards rather than using both port on a single card?
