Need some help with Graphics card

Hey guys i am actually about to build a computer for the first time next month. I have 19 in 1440x900 monitor. Iwant to be able to run starcraft 2 on ultra at a constant 50-60 frames. Also other games at max settings such as Battlefield, dragon age, mass effect, and the withcher. The cpu I am planning on buying is either going to be the phenom 955 or 965. I will also be having a tight budget of a total of $600 (including os). Do you guys have any recommendations?

Based on your budget I would say GTX460 or HD6850/70.

i was actually planning on buying the 6870 but it seems that card it going over my budget by $100

Drop down to a HD6850 http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/HD_6850_Cyclone_Power_Edition/7.html just look at 1280 x 1024 it is the closest in total pixels to your resolution.

y dont you go for Intel i5 and with asus p7p55d delux board with two 5670 in Crossfire mode??? it will be Awesome in low budget... and in Nvidea Sli will b helpfull too.. even though if you want to go for Amd it is ok if u like but remember amd cant give you better prformance than its rival Intel so b careful.. and using an Sli or Crossfire is very better and is cheaper too.. ... and if you want to go to Amd you can have a crossfire ready board in about 180$ even if you dont want Crossfire than buy a 5770 which can give you performance what you require...if you have very low budget than buy the following which i made recently

i3 540 3.12 (going to i5 soon)125$
Asus p7h55-v 100$
Antec 450 watt PSu 42$(better go for a higher Wattage PSU)
I dont have any GPU in it but planning to buy a 5770 or gtx460

so how big will the difference between the 6870 and 6850?

they are almost same not big difference there is difference but 6870 is costly too. 4 u 6850 will b ok

im new to this but are 9 extra frames worth $25 more. the 6870 is turning to be onlyy $25 more expensive

Looking at the benchmarks I linked to it is between 10 and 20% based on if you get an overclocked card or not.

yup go for it if you can spend more it is a good choice though
