P35-DQ6 Memory Issue

Hi Everyone!

My computer has the following specs:

Mobo: P35-DQ6 rev 1.0
CPU: Intel Q6600 (Quad-core 2.40GHz)
RAM: 4 x Corsair XMS2-8500 / 2048MB / 1066Mhz / 5-5-5-18 / 2.10V

The issue is that with 4GB of memory in (any two sticks, any combination, any motherboard slots (obviously paired correctly)), the computer will boot happily into windows. When all 8GB is installed, it gets as far as completing the windows loading screen but rather then entering windows, a plain black screen displays.

In the BIOS, I have set the voltage for the memory to +0.3V and set the timings manually to 5-5-5-18.

What else do I need to do to resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. Put the RAM voltage back to its rated voltage and raise the Northbridge voltage one increment (if that does not work, raise it in increments until it does).
  2. When you say rated voltage, is that the 1.8v rating on the mobo or 2.1v of the RAM?
  3. When you say rated voltage, is that the 1.8v rating of the mobo or 2.1v of the RAM?

The reason I went for +0.3v was to try and get the 1.8v motherboard to 2.1v, is that not right?
  4. Tried changing the MCH/Northbridge all the way to +0.375v with no luck.
