DDR5 version of the 240 is the fastest one. But I would recommend getting the HD 5670 in that price range.

Also, you will need a much more expensive card to back up for that resolution when gaming

A more expensive card for sure, and make sure it is a 1GB card for that res. They are easier to come by then they used to be.

The difference between DDR2 and DDR5 is very great. Basically, any card with DDR2 is probably obsolete, while a card with DDR5 may not be amazing, it is no doubt a new card, with newer technologies.

If the GT240 only has DDR2, then a HD4670 or HD5570 may be faster.

if you dnt dnt hardcore gaming any card with DDR5 will suffice even older cards like the 9800 GT or HD 4850/30 will do you justice...just make sure you get the 256-bit versions. I personally find the DDR5 gt 240 and HD 5670 to be a gimme because they will not yield decent performance in DX 11 game anyway..
