Will this card be good enough?

My cousin is buying a laptop and is wondering will he be able to play a certain game, the minimum graphics card was the Nvidia geforce 9600 GT 1gb and the one in the laptop is the nvidia geforce 420M 1 gb, the other specs are alright but is the graphics card comparable?

I really don't think a 420m is close to a 9600GT. Consider that a GTS 450 is 120% of a 9800GTX+ (or GTS 250). A 9600GT is 70% of a 9800GTX+ or 58% of a GTS 450. Do you think a 420M is 58% of a 450? Because a 220 isn't 58% of a 250 and that's not even the Mobile version.

If you're interested in gaming, you'll probably want the GTS 450M. You can get them in Sager i7-2XXX notebooks for like $850. At least you could last week.

FYI: a 420 is a multimedia card. I assume the Mobile version is also intended for playing HD Video. It is probably atrocious for gaming.
