Need Build Suggestion - For MULTIMEDIA use

Hello All,

I need some solid advice from, the amazing computer gurus on this forum

In a couple months I will be starting this Interactive Multimedia program at college, and I have been tossing the idea whether to buy an iMAC or go for a custom PC BUILD.

Now in this program I will be doing: Design, Audio, Video, Web related projects, and I will be using the following softwares: Adobe, Maya, Final Cut Pro ... just to name a few.

I am a PC user by heart, but I dont mind Apple computers either. So initially I got convinced that I should get the new iMAC 27" ( Quad-Core w/ i7 processor ), but if someone could give me some ideas on a complete PC Build w/ a monitor similar if not better compared to the iMAC i listed above..

My Budget would be: $2,300 (CAD) before taxes.

honestly, this is too easy to give you a specific build without really knowing your needs further. an imac simply cant fit powerful graphics cards inside it. do you want to get the same performance for less? do you want the best possible performance for $2300?

heres merely an unoptimized example, around $2300 (this might be in puny US dollars, i built this on newegg.ca and for some reason the grand total was 500 bucks more than the subtotal)

by the way, if anyone was wondering, even if i had a 20k computer budget, id still try to put it inside an antec 300.
