Small Business Server

Hi all,

Looking to build a small business server for the following purpose, would like some opinions from the good folks at Tom's Hardware.

1. mySQL and/or SQL Server Express database
2. Business file server
3. Print server
4. 24/7 machine

No. of users won't be over 5.

Budget hopefully under $1000 AUD. Please suggest some self-built configuration or ready available machines.

how big is the database?

database is currently quite small right now, i'm planning for it to include australian & international financial data so it will be quite big in the future, maybe a few GBs

You don't need anithing special for your build. You can't afford buying things like redundant power supply, so yo'll need to go just with the usual. The only advice I may give to you - if your data is important you need a RAID /RAID 1 - just mirroring - is currently the best option - you usualy get it right with your mobo and the harddrives are cheap, anithing like 5 or 10 needs more disks and special hardware, you may consider using a separate disk fo OS and programs - system disk/.
