Crossfire and PCI-E Sound Card Tags: Asus Pci Express Crossfire Sound Cards Motherboards Last response: March 22, 2012 8:26 AM in Motherboards Share Skoobz March 21, 2012 9:23:54 AM Hi guys, I am currently running: PSU: Antec TruePower 1000W Quattro Mobo: ASUS P8P67V3 CPU: Intel i7 2600K RAM: 8GB G.SKilll DDR3-1600 Video: 2x XFX ATI RADEON HD 6870 PCI-E 2.1 1GB I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCIe Fatal1ty Pro that I can't use at the moment because I didn't realise using 2 video cards would use all of PCI-E lanes. Are there motherboards that are capable of running 2 or cards in Crossfire and a PCI-E sound card? Are there any you guys would recommend? I would stick with the onboard sound, but I'm going to grab a 7970 this week anyway, and I figure I might as well pick up a motherboard that can run them in Crossfire with my sound card. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Is that your exact motherboard? If so...it looks like there should be room right above your first blue PCIEx16 slot. | Report abuse Skoobz March 22, 2012 8:26:24 AM Quote:Can't u plug it in the first PCIE x1? [\quote] Unfortunately no. According to the motherboard user guide: "[Auto] PCIeX16_2 slot runs at X1 for system resource optimization. [X4 mode] PCIeX16_2 slot runs at x4 mode for high performance. USB3_34, PCIeX1_1 and PCIeX1_2 will be disabled." So I can't run the sound card in the PCIeX1_1 slot if I run the 2nd video card slot in x4 mode. I tried it anyway in [Auto] to see how it would run in X1 mode, but it just disabled the 2nd card. | Report abuse Register or log in to remove Ask the community Publish Tom's Hardware>Forum>Motherboards>Crossfire and PCI-E Sound Card> Related ressources: ForumCrossfire and PCI-E sound card question ForumCrossfire and a PCI-E sound card ForumHD5670 Crossfire disable when installed X-FI titanium sound card pci-E ForumPCI-e slot, is it even worth crossfire ?
