Welcome to Ton's Forum!
First, I would only use the latest BIOS and as far as flashing the only way, thankfully on that MOBO, is to use USB BIOS Flashback.
How to -> http://event.asus.com/2012/mb/USB_BIOS_Flashback_GUIDE/
BIOS -> 0906
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_2011/P9X79_DELUXE/#download
ROM Name -> P9X79D.ROM ... the <file_name>.ROM is the same as the .ROM file on the ASUS DVD that came with the MOBO. So place the DVD into another PC to determine proper naming.
USB Preparation -> Flash drive must be FAT32 (or FAT16).
If the BIOS update doesn't work:
- The USB stick is partitioned FAT32/FAT.
- The USB stick has only one (1) partition.
- The BIOS file on the USB stick is extracted (unzipped/decompressed).
- The USB stick is inserted before boot so that it can be recognized.
- The USB stick is in the white USB port.
- The 24-pin main and 8-pin CPU are properly connected to the PSU.
- Proper Clear CMOS procedure (Jumper or Clr CMOS button methods), unplug the PSU for 5~10 so any residual charge is dissipated; see ->
