Is the nVidia Quadro FX1700 still a relevant card? I think I found one at a good deal ($75), but I want to be sure before I buy it. If anyone could give me their opinion I would appreciate it.

That depends...

IF you want to use it in a professional way (in a workstation) then buy it.

But if you want to use it for plain gaming than you have better cards for that money.

Not bad for workstation use and it looks like a 8600gt but uses the slower GDDR2. For the basics and cuda it will be fine.

I ended up getting the card in a Gateway E6610 tower and XP OS. I pulled the video card out and put it in my computer with an AMD Phenom II 920 quad-core processor and new Corsair TX 650 watt power supply. The graphics seem to run smoother in Photoshop so far. I plan to also use it with AutoCad and Sketchup so we'll see how it performs there. I figure its not a bad deal for the card and extra tower to play with for a novice like myself.
