BIOS will not recognize IDE HDD

Last response: in Motherboards
Share

I'm repairing a friends pc and im trying to use one of my older IDE HDD's.
Motherboard is MSI K8N Neo2. Tried about everything I can think of: changed cables, master/slave 0 & 1. Also made sure IDE was enabled and no HDD is coming up in BIOS. I put this hdd in an external enclosure to make sure it works. Took a minute to recognize in Win7 but works fine through usb. Any suggestions?

I've had this issue before, it's usually not to do with the cables but the jumpers on the drive. Change the jumpers on the hdd to suit your configuration - Master, slave, cable select.

I set jumpers from master to cable select and it worked like a charm! I even bought a sata drive thinking my IDE port was bad. You are a gentleman and a scholar, thank you!
