8gb ddr3 1600 (not important)
650+ power supply
60gb ssd (for os)

What is your primary use? gaming? Honestly your computer right now is fine. If you need a more graphics power I'd just get another 460 and sli it and oc your processor if you haven't. I wouldn't spend 800 bucks on a small upgrade.

Another 460 is 130ish? depending on rebates and a 60gb SSD is 120ish. So for $250 you can get what you want with what you have.

You may be able to get close but will probably be closer to $1000 with what you have up there.

the 2600k and gpu alone put you close to 600. If you re-use the HDD, case, and psu from your original you may get closer.

You may need a bigger ssd on top of that also but I am not sure. All the posts I have read seemed to favor a 80-120 gb ssd for OS and apps. That of course would double the expected price for the ssd.

I am going off of Newegg pricing for the US so if you are somewhere else then you would have to check.

Hi, i think youre going to struggle to get that setup for that price range,, i spent more than that to get the build in my sig. (2 months ago) Maybe if youre not too bothered about overclocking and SLI/Crossfire you could get an H61 board and if you could give up on the PSU, secondary hard drive and maybe the case (as theyre not needed yet) then you may be able to get that in your budget range. (Assuming USD)

thank you guys. i think for now ill upgrade case, mobo, ram (mine is generic), sli my gpu, overclock my processor.

what mobo do you guys recommend for i7-920?

if i oc my i7-920 to about 3.6-3.8 and also with the sli gpu should i upgrade from my corsair gs600 to maybe 700+?

With a Corsair you should be OK to OC to 3.6-4.0 with a god cooler.

And to reiterate what others have said, with a LGA 1366 processor there is no need beyond bragging rights to upgrade to a LGA 1155 processor.
