Shed some light for me please

I have an ATi Radeon HD4670 1gb. It says in the box and in the website of AMD that its core clock is 750mhz. When i checked the catalyst software it shows that it is only running at 300mhz. Why is this so? I have not overclocked nor underclocked anything in my system. Even when graphic intensive games are running like far cry 2 the clock is still the same. I can overclock it to 800mhz using the catalyst software but i haven't done any overclocking up to now. Please tell me if my card is ok.

Please do not tell me to get a better card. I just want to know why is my card like this?

What are you using to monitor the core clock? When its not doing 3D rendering it will drop down to 2D clocks to conserve power, so if you alt tab out of Far Cry 2 it will drop down again.

+1 card dropt frequency when not under load. you have nothing to worry about
