if you right click on the printer and click share and name it w.e you want..

Then go to windows 7 machine go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings and turn on network discovery and file and printing.

You should see the xp machine pop up when you click network if not if you type the machine name //xp-machine you will see that printer right click go to connect

**If you dont know the xp machine name right click on my computer and go to properties or type hostname in cmd

If you get a new laptop running Windows 7, it makes sense to share that printer so that any computer can print to it. Unfortunately, trying to print to an shared printer on XP from Windows 7 is not as simple as it should be!

Acaully it is pretty simple as long as you have all your computer under the same name for ex workgroup , Home etc. Now if you have windows xp home and windows pro and media center it might get a little tricky. Windows 7 just simplified it for the non computer user basically instead if 3 clicks you know do 1

hey dude so bascially you wanna go on your 7 computer, and go to network.., while you xp computer is sharing the printer, you wanna browse to your xp computer and right click the printer and click connect... let it laod then click the first driop down menu adn selct make default...

then everytime you wanna ptrint from your 7 computer you have to browse top the xp computer... enter the password, so you can see the shares of that computer... and then rpint... it for somereason allows access
