Both builds don't include mouse and keyboard. I have different cases and GPUs in both builds to give you a choice with case looks and amd vs nvidia.

Edit: It just crossed my mind but since you are a student, you can get windows 7 cheaper. But I will keep the builds with retail prices.

This build allows you to add another one of those factory over clocked gtx 560's later on for SLI. This build includes an after market cpu h/s (thermal paste included), Windows 7, and a 1080p LED monitor. Also those red LED case fans do turn off ...a good feature imo when you have roommates.

Case - Goal ... Full tower case w/ great cooling, front USB 3 port(s) ... Options HAF-X or DF-85 ... went w/ DF-85 for CPX form Factor PSU capacity and hot swap external SATA port.

PSU - http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story4&reid=142

It is completely unmatched by any ATX unit on the market I can think of. You'd have to spend twice as much as this thing costs to find the next best thing, performance wise.

MoBo / CPU - Consensus best buy and THG Editor's Choice

Cooler - Beats the Hyper 212 by 7C .... TIM matches AS% performance w/o having to deal w/ AS5's curing issues.

GFX - Guru3D uses the following games in their test suite, COD-MW, Bad Company 2, Dirt 2, Far Cry 2, Metro 2033, Dawn of Discovery, Crysis Warhead. Total fps (summing fps in each game) for the various options in parenthesis (single card / SLI or CF) are tabulated below along with their cost in dollars per frame single card - CF or SLI:

Example 6850 (371 fps w/ single card / 634 fps in CF) $0.42 per frame single card - $0.49 per frame in CF (or SLI)

6850 (371/634) $0.42 - $0.49
6950 (479/751) $0.51 - $0.65
6950 Frozr OC (484/759) $0.59 - $0.75
560 Ti (455/792) $0.53 - $0.61
6970 (526/825) $0.64 - $0.81
560 Ti - 900 Mhz (495/862) $0.44 - $0.51
570 (524/873) $0.64 - $0.77
580 (616/953) $0.81 - $1.05
6990 (762/903) $0.95 - $1.61
590 (881/982) $0.79 - $1.43

At $215 the Gigabyte 900 MHz 560 Ti is a steal

RAM - Budget allowed it so went with lowest CAS available

http://www.anandtech.com/show/2792/12

22.3 % (SLI) increase in minimum frame rated w/ C6 instead of C8 in Far Cry 2
18% (single card) / 5% (SLI) increase in minimum frame rated w/ C6 instead of C8 in Dawn of war
15% (single card) / 5% (SLI) increase in minimum frame rated w/ C6 instead of C8 in World in Conflict

PSU sized to to maintain stable voltages w/ twin GFX cards OC'd to 1000 MHz and CPU @ 4.8+ Ghz .... I have built several of these already w/ minor variations .... all went extremely smooth.
