PII 550 stock fan good anough?

so i decided to buy a thermaltake lanboxlite and i don't have much options for cooling my Pii550 and my 4870x2. i am using the stock F/H, its ok but it shoots up to 53C under load in a short time. i have a stock fan fron a PII 965 and i was wondering if this cooler would be good enough? or is there a aftermarket low profile cooler that i can fit in this case? also has anyone ever water cooled this case? there seems to be enough room for a 120mm rad inside the case. would a quad overheat?

you might wanna try a Corsair H50, its a very small watercooling unit, and should be good enough for your CPU

Stock fans are normally good. although not the best and certainly not the best when the cpu is over clocked. The 53C on load in a short time is very common among all cpu's under stock cooling. For cpu temp's you should be more worried if it's hitting the 70+C than 53C.

Most cpu's when under 100% load (running stress programs like prime 95), will reach max temp in about 7 to 10 mins.

I would suggest running prime 95 for about 7 mins and see how high the temp reach. If there below 70C then your fine. if the above 70C then you have a heat problem.

i gree 53c is a good temp. but i want to push the cpu a litttle(overcloking) and i know the stock heasink will ot handle the heat. i did ran prime 95 for 30 or so minutes and it top out at 68c at stock speeds. any tips on how to cool my 4870x2? as soon as i added this card my cpu temps rose by 10C

the h50 is nice way over priced though. only thing is that my memory has built in water cooling and i would like to water cool it and the videocard if possible and the h50 is made to cool the cpu only.

The h50 is very cheap for watercooling.

If you can only fit a 120.1 rad in your case then forget watercooling the CPU, memory and GPU, have you done any research into watercooling ?, I'm guessing not.

Anyway if you think a H50 is pricey then you'll be shocked at the cost of a water loop

You'll need a Radiator, Resivior, Pump CPU block, GPU block, Tubing, Barbs, Coolant, Anti-kink wiring, A fan.

actually i have water cooler for the past 5 or so years, just not a small case like this one. i have a complete water cooling kit thats a left over from my previous i7 setup. it will not fit because i was using a 360mm rad. the reason i say the h50 is way over priced its because i can buy i TT big water 735 for the same price and cool my SB memory and cpu, and if a add a second 120mm rad it might even cool my video card.

Yes you can use the stock 965 cooler. Your temps are a bit high unless you did some overclocking.

Anyways try the stock cooler with some AS5 or equivalent and you should be fine.

As far as the H50, if you have 80 bucks to burn I say go for it, if this is not the case then just use the stock 965 cooler. You will be able to squeeze out around 400-500Mhz depending on your overall temps.

Then surely you know that a 120.1 rad will not cool a 4870x2, Personally i think the H50 is alot better than the Thermaltake Big Water, why not check out some reviews to help you make your decision?

The H50 is worst than some aftermarket air cooler. I would say go with a Cooler Master Hyper 212+... you cannot find a better cooler at that price.
