What sets would be better?

what would be better?
AMD Radeon 6970 2gb and a AMD Phenom IIx4 970 black edition @ 3.50ghz (factory clock)
or
Intel core i7 950 @ 3.06ghz(factory clock)
nVidia GTX 560 Ti

i was just wondering what of those two partners are better for gaming. not switching them around im just asking which one of those would perform better

6970 system by a decent margin although you may not notice a difference unless you go up to 1920x1080 or even 1920x1200.

its a trick question. the answer is an i5-2400 and a gtx 570.

I'm going to say that the 6970 system would win ... due to the extra 1GB of memory on the GPU and the faster GPU. The Radeon GPUs are also (apparently) very good at offloading tasks from the CPU.

Is there ANY way that you could get the 6970 (or the 6950) with the Sandy Bridge platform though? BECAUSE that would be better AGAIN

Sandy bridge is the way to go over the 1366 platform/Am3 at this price range.
