Need $100 motherboard

Hi, I'm working on a gaming build and I need some help picking a good motherboard. I'm on a $400 budget, and I got a i3-2120 for $130, so I have $270 left for everything else. I allotted about $100 for the motherboard, and I have now idea what I really need. I was thinking of going with the ATX size because its supposed to have better airflow than the micros, but tell me if I'm wrong. I don't need any more than 2 x16 slots, but at least one. Also I don't need integrated graphics, or USB 3.0, I can get a card later for that. So what I need is a motherboard that is right around $100 or possibly even less from a good brand, and if its a board that you have and it works for you please tell me what it is. Also here is the board that I was contemplating, and I have had a ASUS computer for a while and I kind of like ASUS but if there are better brands for about the same price then I would have no problem going to another brand.

  1. I've never had problems with either ASUS or Gigabyte but Gigabyte tends to be cheaper.
Biostar and ASRock are also cheap but I've had some problems before.
Do you really need the z68 chipset? You can probably get a p67 chipset motherboard for a little less

ASrock Z68 MB $105 shipped. Doesn't have SLI or X-fire capability.
The Ex3 Gen3 is worth the extra $ but you have about $24 more in it after shipping.
  5. First: the Z68 chipset is a waste for you. You can't OC a i3 2120 so the H67 series mobo is a better choice. Here are 3 in your price range: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=Property&N=100007627%20600093976%20600100186&IsNodeId=1&PropertyCodeValue=705%3A88788%2C717%3A88790%2C4943%3A34967%2C4943%3A34966&bop=And&CompareItemList=280%7C13%2D138%2D296%5E13%2D138%2D296%2DTS%2C13%2D131%2D783%5E13%2D131%2D783%2DTS%2C13%2D130%2D616%5E13%2D130%2D616%2DTS
I have the Biostar and have been running it for a year: solid board. BTW I also downstreamed it to use as my home server: runs 24/7. Reliable.
