Heyo, just looking for some quick input. I'm putting a new build together while I'm back in the states for a bit and was just looking for some input before I pull the trigger. I primarily use my computer for gaming. I have a 25.5" Asus at 1920x1200.

My current rig:
Abit 32x Max
q6600 OC 3.0GHz
2x 8800GT 512mb SLI
A-Data 2x4GB DDR2 800
Cooler Master Real Power Pro 750W
Cooler Master CM690

Here's my new build:

CPU
Intel Core i5 2500k

Mobo
Asrock P67 Extreme4

SSD
Crucial c300 64gb

I'm going to re-use my case, PSU and GFX cards. I know I could ditch the SSD and upgrade my 8000gt's, but I'd rather hold off until BF3 is released before taking that plunge. I can pretty much run all my games at high at 30fps right now anyway. I primarily want to get out of the LGA775 socket and away from my mobo (no bios updates since before abit went under, problems with SLI, etc) and just get my build up to date.

I plan on using the SSD for Win7 and possibly putting The Sims on there for the wife, if I notice a great enough improvement on those awful load times. I want to do this while I'm stateside to take advantage of lower prices and a new 0% APR credit card offer.

I have a few months before I head back to Europe, which will probably be sometime in July. The one thing I'm waiting for to go on sale is the motherboard, as since I'm in California I get hit with high sales tax from Newegg. Should I maybe wait another month or two to see if prices drop? Anyway, if you don't mind giving me some feedback, I'd appreciate it!

I appreciate the input, but for one I'd like to avoid an upgrade that involves going TO SLI. If I do upgrade my cards I'm going to upgrade to a single card. Second, I can't get over 3.0GHz with my current mobo, it's just not possible, and I've already noticed some bottlenecking with my 8800GT's in SLI. Like I said, I've been having problems with my board and with the release of the new line of Intel CPUs I feel like it might be a good time to make the jump to an i5.

Glad to hear you know you need to upgrade the video cards..... was sweating when I read the beginning... LOL. My Q9550 is starting to show it's age too. I game at 1920x1200. Get a card with at least 2gig if possible..( 6950 +up ) .. or a gig and a half ( nvidia 570/580 ). 1gig isn't enough sometimes for me. Don't even think about 1gig'ers. Tessellation will rip them a new one......and does in Metro..... my 6950 cuts through it maxed out. Can't do that with a gtx560...... food for thought.

Ha, yeah, I know my cards are dated, but like I mentioned, I get acceptable framerates in the games I play already, and I'm sure things will just get better with a nicer CPU (BC2 especially). The point of this build is to move myself away from a dying socket and to get away from a motherboard that is no longer being updated. I figure the longer I wait to get a new GFX card the better a deal I will get. I guess I'm really just setting up so that by the time BF3 launches I can get a really nice card and max things out without worrying about other stuff.
