Hello,

I wanted to know if ASUS Rampage IV Gene work with CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB 1866? The ASUS web site QVM sheet doesn't list the 16GB, but does list the 8GB as compatible. I can't find anything online that says I can or that I can't (shouldn't). Anyone have any ideas?

More about : asus rampage gene work corsair vengeance 16gb 1866

Yes it will, but it will knock it down to default CPU frequency @ 1600MHz.

If u will OC or use XMP than it will reach the 1866MHz mark.

I will be running the i7-3820 SB-E 3.6GHz LGA 2011 130W Quad-Core chip.

I totally screwed-up, and didn't think Gene + LGA 2011, anytime I see Gene I think LGA 1155.

So yes, the DDR3-1866 should be fine on ANY SB-E.

Okay, now that my heads screwed on, I appreciate the Vengeance but know they don't OC much if any above their Rated specs. So otherwise if you have no plans to OC then with the Vengeance use the AI OC -> XMP and Profile1.

However, IF you plan on OC'ing the i7-3820 which can be done with CPU Strap -> 125MHz then know that 'DDR3-1866 is no longer an option and I'd instead look at DDR3-2000 or DDR3-2133 with a slight under-clock.

With a CPU Strap of say 125MHz: DDR3-1666, DDR3-2000, DDR3-2333 so keep those numbers in mind.

you rock, thanks. I won't be OC'ing this system, I just want one that doesn't shut down every day... Very long story.
