Hi guys. Here's my spec
AMD Phenom II X4 B55 @ 3.6ghz (Unlocked/OC'd Phenom II X2 555)
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO 785G
HiS 5770 1GB
4GB DDR3 1333mhz
OCZ Stealth X Stream 600w
WIN7 64bit
Everything is Prime95 stable.
Now, my mobo has 2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue @ x16 mode, gray @ x4 mode). Will the x4 Speed make it pointless to crossfire another 5770? I've searched google a bit, and some say it wouldn't change much, others make it sound like the worst idea in the world.
Secondly, my PSU has 1x PCI-E 6 pin connector, and 1x PCI-E 6+2 pin connector. Is it possible for me to use the 6+2 as a 6pin to power the second card?
I'm thinking of crossfire because I am noticeing in some games I can't maintain 60 fps (vsync/tripplebuffering) on higher settings anymore. I've seen 5770's go for £50-£60 on ebay recently so seems like a cheap way to upgrade my PC.
I've always used single cards, and if money wasn't an issue I'd go with a 460gtx or something, but unfortunatly it's out of my price range at the moment.
