6 pin pcie connectore to 12 pin out?

Hello,

I have a cooler master 700w psu. Have a Radeon HD 5870 running both my pcie 6 pin to 6/8 pin connectors. Have just got a second graphics card to do the old crossfire thingy. However looking at the psu it only has the 2 ports fo the pcie 6 pin connectors. I was wondering if there was anyway to double them up or if there is a cable which branches off to a 12 pin. The graphics cards each have 2 6 pin connections by the way. Anyone able to shed some light? cheers, Mart

Most of those cards come with two molex (4-pin connection) to 6-pin connectors. Did you get two of these with your second card?

No it did not come with any connectors at all. So what your saying is i need to get a couple of 2xmolex to 6pin connectors and bobs your uncle? Are there any issues with doing this? will it not draw too much power through the molex's original connection at my psu?

Actually, one of my three is connected in just this way. I haven't had any issue. If you can pick up some of these adapters, this will be a cheaper way to go than seeking out a new power supply. Two of these adapters will run you around $16-20 shipped from newegg these days.

Just having a quick browse just now on these, is there any difference between the 2xmolex to 6 pcie and the 1xmolex to 6 pcie? Thanks for your help so far.

I'm pretty sure you'll need the 2xmolex to 6pcie. This is what is bundled with retail 5850 and 5870 cards.

Personally, I wouldn't risk my PC to the molex converters kludge w/o a written statement from manufacturer saying it was cool.

what model is it actually? cause it sounds wierd for it to have only 2 pcie powerplugs when it is a 700W unit.

edit looks like Silent Pro M700 only has two 6+2pins...

You have a couple of solutions:1) Get the adapters or 2) Get a new power supply. Tell us which you're going to try and let us know if it works out for you...
