Lets compare 3DMark Vantage scores at free default settings

here is link to 3DMark Vantage download
http://www.3dmark.com/3dmarkvantage/

I scored an overall score of
P5352
graphics
5626
cpu
4669

that is with a C2D 2.93ghz 1066fsb and a HD 5670
OCd 850core/1050 mem

no antivirus running
at the peformance default for free edition

I am curious about other scores
especially C2D,C2Q
but of course
you Sandybridge owners are welcome to brag :D

and dont laugh at my score please LOL

I, certainly, will not be laughing at your score. My results:

    P1788
    Graphics 1367
    CPU 23765.
    Microsoft Security Essentials enabled.
    Using i5 2500k at 4.7 on turbo.
    Integrated graphics.
I was getting 1 to 6 frames per second on the graphics tests. I did not build this comp with gaming in mind-good thing.
Just wanted to add to your database. Cheers.
  2. awesome CPU score!
would be interesting to see the score with a discrete GPU
but considering that is integrated that is good for integrated
shows how biased towards graphics the 3dVantage is
  3. P11516
    Graphics 12270
    CPU 9724

    AMD B45
    ATI 6850
    Stock clocks

I had a few BG programs running but not enough to make a real dent in performance.
  4. Nice
I wasnt familiar with the B45 so I checked it out
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+Phenom+II+X4+B45

    equal to a C2Q 8400 in Passmark

and not far behind a I3 2100 SB

    double my C2D 3ghz/HD 5670 in vantage

anitvirus does make a big impact on score
I turned off my Nortons and got almost a 600 point increase
  5. Best answer
    I only got P33293 :(
  6. Well I got a P31k as a highest, but that's with PPU on which means it uses CUDA cores to do the physics so you get a bloated CPU score lol.

My real score, with PPU set to off is:

    P25160

I did this a while ago, not sure if I could maybe beat it now or not with different OCs.
  7. Geez anybody with Core2Duos and C2Qs out there?
how about some rana x 3s?

All I hear are these I5/I7 users bragging :)
  8. Okay, I'll chime in... But also on the i5-2500k bandwagon... ;)

    P21074
    Gfx 22077
    CPU 18547

    My first build.
    i5-2500k oc'd to 4GHz @1.190v
    EVGA GTX570 reference stock

...with IE9, VLC, Online Armor (Learning Mode-kept crashing benchmark with constant popups on Advanced) Firewall, ESET Nod32 AV, Webroot Spy Sweeper, Steam (downloading game), etc. running in background. :sarcastic:
  9. Does SandyBridge dominate the world? :)

    Pretty much. :sol:
  11. I already have nefarious plans to convince the wife that
I need a new build for work
    Planning on a I3-2100 P67 or if budget is tight a Pentium G620 P67
    I can always upgrade CPU later(I5 2400)
and the Pentium G620 would still be a nice upgrade on my C2D 3ghz

Question: It is possible to OC a non K series by using the FSB and upping volts on a P67 or Z68 board? isnt it?

    I don't know, I have a K version.
  13. I was just thinking about it
The I series I think has the what was essentially the Northbridge integrated on the die
so the I series really doesnt have a FSB like the older tech
I have to start a new thread about that
  14. As far as I know you can't really up the FSB more than about 5 mhz before *** explodes lol. The problem is that they tied it in not only to CPU, RAM, and QPI, but everything else too including PCIe.
  15. Well back in the old dark days before I-series you could OC the PCI to match up to your ram and cpu oc

too bad there isnt a way to OC the other "busses" on a SB

Oh well I would be happy with a I3-2100 stock
Really my C2D at 2.93ghz handles most of what I do just fine
Recording/converting streaming video (netflix, xfinity etc) is the one thing
    that really strains my system

    I can only get about a 640x480 xvid 2048kbps/mp3 128 with a full 1920x1080 screen

so no recording streaming HD :(

Now if the my wife can understand that recording HD (building new system) is more important than the family vacation than I would be set LOL
  16. Hmm. Well the problem with changing PCI is that it will mess up with any cards you have installed. I actually spent a while testing it out (1156 and 1366 allow you to change it) and eventually I lost my ability to connect to the internet and later on things started randomly messing up.

Unfortunately this was a while ago and that post is... well, I don't know what I named it so it's basically gone =/
  17. The funny thing is that overclocking was always the way in the old days
of getting a cheaper part and making it perform like a more expensive part.

Now you have to pay a premium to overclock (K)
    goes against the OCing mentality
  18. That's true! As much as I like the SB speed, I dislike the restrictions too. Who knows, maybe I'll get an AMD next time I need a CPU upgrade...
  19. I am torn between a OCd X 3 Rana or 955 or a I3-2100 actually
stock the 2100 will beat the 955 but I wonder if I got a good OC
    would it be a match
but also it would be nice to have a 1155 platform for upgrades later

to be honest it seems that the AM3 socket is on its way out
not right away but I wonder if in a year or two ir it will be EOL
they already have LLano on a different socket (FM1?)
usually with any major CPU tech changes they need to change sockets
though I hear Bulldozer can work on AM3
