The 5770 is the faster card. And it uses less power. But with your CPU at 2.3ghz i think you might bottleneck it.A Overclock would be most helpful in producing the best result for the graphics card.

Whats your monitors resoultion?

What types of games do you play?

Can you expand your budget a little more?

Reply to purple stank

I am open to expanding the budget but id rather stay on the cheaper side. I had a gts 460 but i seemed to do a very well here are some of my benchmark sesults http://3dmark.com/3dmv/2907024
I returned it because it was i felt that i payed to much for a card i couldnt utilize to its max patential. (i payed 280) I use my monitors native, 1600x1050
I play lots os source games like css, dod ect. I also play call od duty games, gmod, left 4 dead, world of warcraft and some others.
I am considering getting starcraft 2 and crysis.

Reply to ptwick

Those games aren't very demanding and i think would do very well with a 5770.Only very demanging game would be Crysis but you might be able to manage medium settings IF you O.C. your prossesor.Crysis is very CPU demanding and so is SC2.But you will need a new PSU to accomadate a new GPU.And a O.C. would really help but that is your prefernce.

Power Supply(PSU) Antec500watt $65=$50 after MIR + Free Sipping

Graphics Card(GPU) HIS 5770 $130=$100 after MIR + Free Shipping

Graphics Card MSI GTX460 $180=$160 after MIR + Free Shipping
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814127551

The GTX460 is almost double the performance of a 5770 and will give even more FPS in Blizzard's games because they favor Nvidia cards.

So you had a GTX460???Why did you return it?Were you runing the GTX460 on your current power supply? What is your current PSU?

My current psu is an coolermaster 700w
I had a gtx 460 it worked well i think the results show that, but i felt that i payted otpo much for a card i could not get the most out of. So now im basicall looking for a good cheap card. Looking to spend as little as i can.
Can the ati 5770 run wow on ultra setting?
I read that the card you linked me is not good for overclocking.
I am planning to build a new pc in 2 years or so i dont plan on making a epic pc with the garbage i have now lol XD
And i need a new card cuz my pc doenst got intergraded graphics.

You should get the GTX460 that i linked it's a really good brand.Much better than the 5770.And you could save it and SLI it when you start your new rig.

Reply to purple stank

there is no big difference between gts 450 and hd 5770.both trade blows, the only thing that matters is your resolution,if its 1680 x 1080 then both will do fine.no need of gtx 460.

i would wanna gtx 460 thats cheap and i can oc like my last one, i managed to push my gtx 460 to 900mhz at 1.037 volts, but the test i linked to was taken at 850mhz.
im still confused is there any other good cards i could get?? is there a good gtx 460 i can get for 140 dollars? im taped out and i still got to get a good computer case because the one i have right now is very small and has terrible airflow, also i want the case to look nice. You guys know any? do you think the 94 dollar card i linked above would be good with my system?

Reply to ptwick

Theirs also the 6850 usally goes for around $180.But your Prossesor is way to slow for that.I don't think you should even have a GTX460 in it.You were probably bottlenecking it.You should O.C. your CPU.Do you have a good cooler?

Heres a good case for $50

k so your saying i should go for the 5770? or is the 94 dollar gts 450 good? i also cant oc my cpu i have a hp computer

Reply to ptwick

and no my cooler is horrible! my cpu idles right now at about 50c

Reply to ptwick

5770 is faster for a single card, but if you were looking to add another later for sli/xfire, the gts450 is faster in dual card config. Also there are overclocked versions of the gts450 that equal and sometimes beat the 5770, saying that you could then overclock the 5770 to obliterate any gts450. http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] 34-11.html

Is there any other graphics card i have to choose from

Reply to ptwick

Oh k thanks you know any nice 5770s i can get with a good cooler so i can overclock it for a cheap price?

Asus or MSI have great heatsinks and software for O.C.ing.

Asus 5770 $140=$120 after MIR + $5 Shipping

MSI 5770 $155=$135 after MIR + Free Shipping

Really don't see why you returned the GTX460.The GTX460 performs much better than the 5770.But it's your decision.

EDIT:Just say you said you paid $280 for the 460.Why did you pay so much? They usually go for around $200 in the U.S.

Don't get the 768mb version of GTX460.It's not futureproof.And it's a poor version anyway.

That MSI 5770 from tigerdirect is good i would reccomend getting it.

Reply to purple stank

unfortinatly there are no rosewill cases at the stores i go to u know any others

Reply to ptwick

I linked a msi gtx 460,
So i guess it comes down to a gtx 460 1gb or a 5770 right?

Reply to ptwick

get the 460, its much more powerful, even the SE version is pretty good and can be had for cheap.

Nothing is "futureproof" and the 768MB card is OK, I've seen the performance of one myself and can attest to it being more than capable of handling gaming for a couple of years at the very least.

When i mean futureproof i mean it doesn't have the full 1G.So if he decided to upgrade his monitor to a 1080p one it wouldn't do as well with it.

Reply to purple stank

"if's", "buts" and "maybe's" shouldn't be allowed. Just deal with what the OP already has and at no point has the changing of the monitor been mentioned.

Reply to ptwick

Here's this MSI gtx460 i linked above. It's probably the cheapest "quality" 460 you'll find besides amazon.
