    depends on the game
alot of games will only use two cores in which case the faster dual core
    is better
but newer games that are using 3 and 4 cores will benefit from the quad core.

also lets say the game uses two cores of the quad cores well that leaves you
two cores to run the OS and other apps

with a two core game on a dual core you can only really run that game

with a two core game on a quad core you can run that game and also rip a dvd, check your email, burn a music cd etc at the same time

Personally if I had a choice between a 4ghz dual core and a 3ghz quad core
I would pick the quad core.
at 3ghz it would run any game well plus do more
really most games are dependent on a good graphics card
your cpu just needs to be fast enough to supply the GPU with data
and a 3ghz quad core can do that

but if i am just playing a game then will some of core 2 be used to run the os, i will not run anythiny in the background, also the two gpu's that i am thinking of are an i3 540 oced to 4.0ghz or a amd phenom ii x4 945 at stock 3.0ghz. and the only games i want to play will be wow and world of tanks
  3. either of those two cpus would be fine
    but myself I would pick the x 4 945
overall your computer would run better IMHO

if your going intel go for the newr sandy bridge series, if your going AMD be sure to get a nice AM3+ board.

good advice if you have those options budget wise
  5. i think i will because i want to run snow leopord as my main os and it is picky on amd cpu's and the i3 sandybridge is only 10$ more. is the i3 2100 able to overclock
  6. I thought you could change the FSB and voltage
    on the P67 and Z68
the K series only means you have an unlocked multiplier
you can still OC with the FSB
not as well but SB would still get a decent OC with FSB

    I could be wrong....
