Sharing 7 and vista

Hello,im setting up the network and im trying to share my storage hdd, i set the option for the drive, (everyone can read only) and i set up the network options, (on for discovery, file sharing, public sharing, no password) so i try to connect from the other comp, i can see my comp and the 2 folders (public and the hdd) but i can only access the public folder, why?

well public is open so any1 that connect to your network can see it you have to set up your own shares
