I am looking at buying a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ for an upcoming Sandy Bridge build, the problem is that I'm not sure whether it will fit in my case. I have an Apex Vortex 3620 (mid-tower ATX), and although I have taken measurements of the inside of the case many times, there's a bit of a pucker factor. In theory, I should have just enough room, but if I measured correctly that means that I will only have about 1/16" of clearance between the top of the cooler and the side panel of the case. The depth from panel to motherboard is a little over 6.5", however from panel to CPU it's only 6.26". Any thoughts?

You need 6.240" (158.50 mm) between the top of the CPU and the inside of the case.

Since you have measured and calculated the clearance to be 6.260". you have 0.020" clearance between the heatsink and the inside of the case. You will just make it. Yes, it will work!
