Hi,

I'm pulling my hair out with this now. My PC isnt starting, it is getting power but the screen stays blank.

The MB light works and the fans spin but nothing. I have tried two MB's and 2 PSU's aswell as 2 graphics cards.

I've checked the PSU voltages with a multimeter and they seem fine.

When I turn the computer on the fans spin for a few seconds, stops for a few seconds and then starts spinning again....bit nothing on the screen.

CPU does get hot.

I'm guessing it's a damaged CPU? Or I've tried two duff PSU's?

I built the PC two years ago:

Asus P5K Premium MOBO
Q6600 CPU
CORSAIR 620w PSU
OCZ 6400 DDR2 RAM 4gb
Some basic graphic card, but it does work!

Any ideas? Cheers.

Cheers for replies, tried all the above suggestions. no change :(

I've bought a new PSU just incase it is that. Failing that I'll guess I'll have to get a new CPU :(

Cheers

Double check and triple check wiring... if you've done all that you've said you've done I would safely assume it's the CPU. If it's not posting it could be CPU or board. You've ruled out board so onto the next step for you...

It's listed in qvl so it'll be fine. But what you're going to pay for it you could upgrade board and processor for relatively the same price...

... a wee bit more but far more upgradability including DDR3 (and it's cheap right now);
