My System is as follows :

Manufacturer: Intelr Pentium D CPU (Two Core)
Model: Awrdacpi
OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: 2.799 GHz / 503 MB
Video Card: Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller
Sound Card: Realtek AC97 Audio

I recently installed McAfee 8.5.0i on my system (A friend just gave a copy of it to me along with the Serial No. ) , I installed it on my P.C. , & it works !! While installing , Under "Select Access Protection Level" , there were 2 Options - Standard Protection & Maximum Protection . I chose the Maximum Protection . After installing McAfee , my System takes more time to start than it used to take prior to installing McAfee . How do I check whether this is because of (1) I chose the "Maximum Protection " Setting (2) or whether McAfee takes up more Memory than my P.C. can handle (It's simply to Heavy for my P.C. or (3) whether a Virus is causing the slowdown ?

Yes,a virus is also a cause of slowdown but you can remove it by running a trough out scan so its not a major issue. But there are some additional cause of slowdown, antivirus utility haves multiple programs which runs during windows boot section so check out start up program of antivirus and disable unessential application. It can also help running your system fast.If nothing happen then use light version and improve your hardwares.
