Cpu front panel audio doesnt working

hello,
The front panel audio ports are not working. the 2 usb slots are working fine. But the audio slots are not. I have changed it to ac97 in bios. Still the problem presists.

Or can i get any extension cord to connect the speaker and the headphone simultaneously in the back panel.( i use skype often.)

What can i do?

Mother board: ASUS,
OS: windows xp sp-3.

Have you connected the front audio correctly to the audio port on the motherboard?

If you've changed it to ac97, have you changed the motherboard header audio plug to ac97 as well?
