Cpu front panel audio doesnt working

hello,
The front panel audio ports are not working. the 2 usb slots are working fine. But the audio slots are not. I have changed it to ac97 in bios. Still the problem presists.
Or can i get any extension cord to connect the speaker and the headphone simultaneously in the back panel.( i use skype often.)
What can i do?
Mother board: ASUS,
OS: windows xp sp-3.
