Opening Ports Need Some Help

I have a question that will hopefully be very easy for you to help me with. I need to open a port on my router for an application that I am running. I have looked online and followed guides on opening them from the router and how to do that. After doing all of that going into my Linksys router and opening the desired port, it still does not work.

The application does not run, and when i use portforward.com checker it says it can't ping my router and the port can not be accessed. I don't know what to do, I have been looking for a fix but I can not find one. Any solutions my IP is 75.118.96.211.

well i know on the linksys routers with port fwding there is a glitch in it so when u click both udp and tcp it doesn't work (well i know for me it doesn't)

So what i did was made two entries one for udp and one for tcp.

I just tried that, then ran the portfoward.com checker and it says it can't even ping my router. Any though on why it can't ping my router.

possibly your ISP is filtering certain types of traffic or ports?

If you go to "whatismyip.com" is that the address you see there?

you cant ping 192.168.1.1?

I got it I had to set up a static IP.
