Need help picking good mobo (2011 socket)

Hey im starting to build a new pc, im somewhat new to it so i have a friend helping me, and we havent ordered any other parts cause we are deciding on a mobo, he says i should go with some asrock one but i dont know how i feel about that. so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. i plan on using this pc for a lot of gaming and some video editing / music stuff. thanks IM NEW

my next build going to based on an ASRock X79 Extreme9 , finally a board with a descent amount of sata ports , nice looks and extra added features .
gaming and storage for all my downloaded stuff

As Majin stated, without knowing what CPU you're using, what video card you plan on using, etc., it's hard to suggest a board. That being said, here are my top LGA2011 motherboard picks.
