What do you think is a fair price to ask for a 1 year old Dell Studio 540 as follows;

Q8300 2.50GHz
8.00 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz (2 DIMMs)
Win7 pro 64
1Tb SATA 7200
ATI Radeon HD4600 1GB dual display supporting HDMI
16X DVD +/- RW Optical Drive
16X DVD ROM Drive
Soundblaster X-FI xtreme
Dell in home svc warranty good through 04/12/2012

Hmmm it is a pretty weak overall computer. I think $500 is really at the high end of what you could get. I would say more like $350. It really is just about a perfect internet/Office and light media machine and not real good for much else. CPU and GPU are too underpowered for gaming.
