Hey Everyone,
I need help with a problem i've had on my computer for about a year now. All my programs read my graphics card as from the 5400 series graphics card and the driver as a 5800 series driver. My graphics card is a Gigabyte HD 5870 SOC edition. The only program that recognises the card is GPU-z. Here is what steam system information reads:

I have a feeling this is the result of some of my games running strangely and occasionally crashing (far cry 2, modern warfare 2, etc.).
any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Jesse

5400 Series is the family of card and is a misnomer.

Basically it should say 5000 series, but some software will call it a 5400 series simply because no card was made lower than 5400 (specifically 5450, I beleive).

Basically any card that is 5XXX is in the 5000/5400 Series and share a common GPU (possibly different versions of the same GPU processor) Evergreen, from what I looked up.

Your card is being recognized correctly, it's just that some software might call it by the wrong name (5400), as I believe AMD refers to it as the 5000 or 5XXX series.

If you're having trouble, from the looks of your Steam Readout, your drivers are fairly out of date and probably need to be updated via AMD.com.

Thanks for the quick reply mirrion,
Pretty much all my games read the card as a 5400 and I started to worry. Anyway now I know all is ok i'll do a driver update.
