lol no. a 955 would not bottleneck a 5850. even a 550 wouldnt bottleneck a 5850.

big difference, uhm, the 5770 < 4890 < 5850. i get 1000FPS in CS 1.6 and 400-700 with 8xAA and 16xAF on CS:S with a 955 and 5770.. so with a 5850 id prob get like constant 600+ on source

a 550 would bottleneck in equally cpu-gpu based app, The 5850 has much more power than a 550 in source, it's highly unlikely to bottleneck in source unless you play at a res of 800x600 with like 64xaa and 128xaf then the cpu will drop it to unplayable lol

Source caps out at 300 FPS for me. =/

Since when does FPS go down when you lower resolution? :) Just because the CPU is used more in lower resolutions doesn't mean it is going to drop down in FPS compared to a high resolution due to a slower CPU, it just means the GPU bottleneck is just being lifted so the CPU is able to push it further. Now if you lower your resolution and the FPS stays the same, you have a CPU bottleneck. This is the max FPS your CPU will allow your GPU to go. There are other factors of course, this is just an example. BTW a Phenom II 955 and a Phenom II 550 will perform nearly the exact same in CS:S if the clocks match, only dual core optimized. :)

OP, Phenom II 955 probably wouldn't even bottleneck crossfire 5870s, let alone a 5850.
