Would my cpu bottleneck?

i currently own a amd phenom x4 955 3.2ghz with a evga gtx550ti and im wondering if i upgraded to a six core amd cpu would it cause any bottlenecking?

yeah..your current CPU should not be a bottleneck if you are using anything above 1280 by 1040 on your GPU..and if you are at 1280 by 1040 I imagine you will get great Frame rates. Also I think the 955 is a BE chip..instead of buying a 6 core get an aftermarket cooler and OC your chip.

you should be fine, currently im using a gts 450 @1080p and MOST of the games i play can play with atleast over 30fps with highest/medium settings, i never lower it passed 1680x1050 so you should be fine in that category, since the gtx 550 has the same cores, but a higher clock speed, as for the cpu, you should be fine and not bottlenecked, the only way i can see you bottlenecking yourself is if you had a dual core with a low clock or anything like that,
and also, as DEY123 said, get an aftermarket cooler if possible, they help ALOT temp-wise and usually (but not always) are quieter
