Laptop display issue

Hi all-

Very frustrated here. I woke up this morning, and all of a sudden my
laptop's screen's display is malfunctioning. I turn on the laptop, i
see the compaq log come up (i have a compaq N610c), and i can hear it
asking for my power on password, however, besides seeing the compaq
logo flashed for a second, my screen went blank!!

I connect the laptop to an external monitor and it's working properly
via the external mon. I tried pressing function f4 to switch the
monitor back and it does not work. The external monitor will blink but
still displays there and not my compaq. Anyone know what else i can
do??
