I would like to share some troubleshooting that I am doing regarding the common USB 3.0 drop-outs on some popular motherboards. I have been troubleshooting this problem for my entire ownership of my motherboard the EVGA Z68 SLI; it has D720200F1 NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 device on it and when I plugged in my external USB 3.0 MyBook Essentials my PC started bluescreening so I searched for new drivers or firmware that weren't on my motherboard vendors website. I first found driver 2.1.28.0 at this URL: [URL=http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19880] and the BSODs stopped. I think at the same time I tried installing firmware that I ended up finding at this URL: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm version (3028).

I am told by Renesas that firmware version 3028 is the most recent version but the site station-drivers.com was never authorzied to post them or the install utility.

The USB 3.0 will work a short while then it will lose the connection with the devices connected is the problem I am working on.

I don't know if I installed faulty firmware if anyone knows enough about USB 3.0 on motherboards like mine to give me an idea about what's going on with mine, or if a driver will be out or if I am doing something wrong thanks.

After RMA I received an updated PCB of the motherboard and USB 3.0 didn't cause any Windows errors since, but my USB 3.0 HDD didn't always enumerate correctly each time the computer resumed, or booted.
