Pentium 1-4 - older single core chips
Pentium M - older single core notebook chip (Core2 and I series based partially on this design)
Pentium D - early dual core chip (two pentium 4s stuck together)
Pentium Dual Core - based on Core2 chips-usually has less L2 memory on chip
Pentium G series - based on I-series-again the economy version of I series

Intel is confusing with naming

and I never have been too sure what Nehalem exactly is.....

Core2Duo is dual core-two chips in one CPU
COre2Quad is quad core (4 chips in one CPU- really two Core2Duos stuck together)
I series can be dual or quad core

you will also hear about Hyperthreading
that is a way of make one core or chip act like two

started with Pentium 4
and then brought back improved with the I-series

I3- dual core with or without HT
I5- usually quad core without HT
I7- quad core usually with Hyper Threading

Does that mean that a Pentium G is better than a Pentium Dual core ?
and how a G series based in I series ?

Pentium G is dual core and is the best Pentium range by a good bit. The one starting G with 3 digit numbers are second generation i3s without hyperthreading and lower clock speeds they perform nearly as well.

Another question, Is pentium G better than the Core 2 duo processor ?
and can it -the Pentium G- handle a GTS 450, GT 440, HD 5770 ?
and what is difference between the 2 above and the I3 in handling the listed VGAs?
thanks all!
