Hello,
I got a laptop from my brother who since passed away, so I can't ask him this question. I have a Compaq Presario laptop that is suppose to be able to have wireless internet, but I only see Local Area Connection and 1394 in the Network connections. Is there any way of getting the wireless back?

there could be a physical switch to turn on the wireless network card.

What model laptop is it?

It is a Compaq Presario with Windows XP. The button on the top of the laptop, next to the power button is suppose to turn it on, but when I press it, it doesn't light up.

I previously had a compaq Presario and the wireless stopped working. I thought it was completely broken but I found an of/off switch for wireless operations somewhere, either in the newtowk connections tabs or somewhere else. sorry I don't remember exactly where. Once I clicked this option on it worked peerfectly. hope this helps
