I'm trying to get some memory for a ASRock X58 Pro3 Gen3, and I decided on 2 x 4 GB Patriot G2. When I checked the compatibility charts, though, this RAM isn't on the list. It is, however, on the list for the non-Gen3 Pro3 mobo. Will this RAM still be good if the previous model of mobo supported it?

Solution
I had the same situation with the Asus variety.
GSkill says RAM in its list for a non-Gen3 board works but didn't include the Gen3 board in the list but they said that the differences between pro and gen3 boards don't apply to RAM compatibility so you'll be fine.

Just curious, why Patriot RAM, and are you sure you don't mean Z68 Pro3 Gen3?
I can't find X58 Pro3 Gen3 anywhere.
