Dell xps 410 sound problem

Hello,

I replaced my power supply on my xps 410 and it is working but the sound doesn't seem to work. My speakers are on and I get 'static' when I connect the wire to the tower, but no sound. Was I supposed to connect something to the power supply?

go to
control panel>sound> and check that your sound device is selected as default

also right click on My Computer>manage>device manager
and check under sound to make sure your sound device is operating properly

also go to the speaker icon in bottom right on taskbar
and check the mixer to make sure your sound is not muted
